Information the App Uses

Local Device Storage Only

All friend information, interaction history, and preferences are stored exclusively on your device using secure local storage. This includes:

  • Friend names and contact details
  • Interaction history and personal notes
  • Contact frequency preferences
  • Important dates (birthdays, anniversaries)
  • Check-in reminders and custom events

Contacts Access (Optional & User-Selected Only)

Ping can optionally access your device's address book to make adding friends faster and easier. This access:

  • Is completely optional and you can use Ping without ever granting contacts access
  • Only accesses contacts you manually select
  • Never reads your entire address book
  • Never uploads contact information anywhere
  • Is used solely to pre-fill friend (and sync future updates) information when you choose to add someone

Data Export & Backup

Ping includes a robust export feature that allows you to:

  • Create JSON or CSV backups of your data
  • Save exports to your Files app, cloud storage, or share with others
  • Maintain control over your own data backup and sharing
  • Export data remains on your device until you choose to save or share it

Important: Export files contain your personal relationship data. Handle exported files with the same care you would any personal information.

Children's Privacy

Ping does not collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since all data remains on the user's device, COPPA compliance is maintained through the app's privacy-by-design architecture.

Changes to This Policy

If I make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Effective Date" above and notify users through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Rights

Since your data never leaves your device:

  • You have complete control over your information
  • You can delete all data by deleting the app
  • You can export your data at any time
  • No requests to external services are needed to access or delete your data
