Field Report & Analysis
For years, I've used OmniFocus to track when I last reached out to friends. My wife kept telling me I should build something better. So I finally did.
I started calling it "Friendship CRM" but that felt awful. Then I remembered a Slack joke between a buddy and me:
ping seth
PING seth (seth): 56 data bytes
64 bytes from seth: icmp_seq=0 ttl=57 time=12.712 ms
64 bytes from seth: icmp_seq=1 ttl=57 time=13.251 ms
Perfect. Ping it was.
Like any CRM, you add your friends and Ping reminds you to reach out. You can track important details about conversations and set custom reminder intervals. Some friends you might want to check in with monthly, others quarterly.
During the beta, I migrated my entire friend list over. It's been a game changer for staying connected.
The base app is freeβI don't want to charge people for better friendships. I might add paid features later for things like friendship challenges or advanced analytics.
I'd love feedback or ideas you might have for it, too.
